Greece - F-16C/D Block 52+ Aircraft
On 25 October 2005, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Greece of 40
F-16C/D Block 52+ aircraft as well as associated equipment and services.
The total value, if all options are exercised, could be as high as $3.1 billion.
The Government of Greece has requested a possible sale of Major Defense Equipment (MDE)
Στις 25 Οκτωβρίου του 2005, ο Οργανισμός Συνεργασίας Άμυνας & Ασφάλειας (DSCA) κοινοποίησε επίσημα στο Κογκρέσο έγγραφο για μια πιθανή πώληση στην Ελλάδα 40 F-16C / D Block 52 + τα αεροσκάφη, καθώς και του σχετικού εξοπλισμού.
Αυτή η πώληση συνεχίζει να κινείται, βήμα-βήμα.Η συνολική αξία, φτάνει τα 3,1 δισεκατομμύρια $.
Σύμφωνα με την έγγραφη κοινοποίηση του Οργανισμού προς το Κονγκρέσο, την οποία παρουσιάζει το LEFTeria-news, η πλήρης λίστα του Ελληνικού προγράμματος "Peace Xenia IV", είναι η εξής:
*Αρχική παραγγελία άλλων 30-40 αεροσκαφών F-16C / D Block 52 +, με μηχανές F100-PW-229 και δεξαμενές καυσίμων που να καλύπτουν τον εναέριο χώρο, έως την Κύπρο και με ραντάρ APG-68v9 Τελικά μάλλον η παραγγελία θα μειωθεί σε 20 μονοθέσια Block 50s και 10 διθέσια Block 52s.

*190 Εκτοξευτές LAU-129 / A

Η Πολεμική Αεροπορία έχει παραγγείλει συνολικά 170 F-16. Όλα είναι F-16C/Ds, αλλά οι πρώτες 2 δόσεις των 80 αεροσκαφών F-16 Block 30 και Block 50, θα διαθέτουν κινητήρες F110-110/129 της GE.
Η αίτηση καλύπτει επίσης τον σχετικό εξοπλισμό υποστήριξης, ανάπτυξης λογισμικού , μετατροπές, όργανα ελέγχου πτήσης, δημοσιεύσεις και τεχνική τεκμηρίωση, την εκπαίδευση του προσωπικού και άλλες σχετικές απαιτήσεις υποστήριξης.
Το κόστος υπολογίζεται σε 3.1 δις δολάρια
Το DSCA αναφέρει ότι ο εκσυγχρονισμός αυτός θα πρέπει να παρέχεται σύμφωνα με την επιφύλαξη των περιορισμών που παρέχεται στο πλαίσιο του νόμου περί του Ελέγχου των Εξαγωγών Όπλων.
Επίσης, σύμφωνα με το αμερικάνικο έγγραφο, πρέπει να λαμβάνεται μέριμνα ότι η προτεινόμενη πώληση δεν θα επηρεάσει αρνητικά, είτε την στρατιωτική ισορροπία στην περιοχή, ή τις προσπάθειες των ΗΠΑ να ενθαρρύνουν μια διευθέτηση μέσω διαπραγματεύσεων, του Κυπριακού.
Επίσης, σύμφωνα με το αμερικάνικο έγγραφο, πρέπει να λαμβάνεται μέριμνα ότι η προτεινόμενη πώληση δεν θα επηρεάσει αρνητικά, είτε την στρατιωτική ισορροπία στην περιοχή, ή τις προσπάθειες των ΗΠΑ να ενθαρρύνουν μια διευθέτηση μέσω διαπραγματεύσεων, του Κυπριακού.

Για την Ιστορία , το πρώτο Πρόγραμμα PEACE XENIA ξεκίνησε το 1985 και παραδόθηκαν 40 αεροσκάφη F-16C/D Block 30, το 1989 και το 1990. Ακολούθησε το Peace Xenia II και Peace Xenia IIΙ.

42 Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems;
40 AN/AVS-9 Generation III Aviation Night Vision Goggles;
190 LAU-129/A Launchers;
48 Link-16 Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVT);
3 Link-16 Ground Stations;
10 LANTIRN Targeting pods;
11 Reconnaissance pods;
2 Reconnaissance Ground Stations;
40 APX-113 Advanced Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems;
43 AN/ALQ-187 Advanced Self-Protection Integrated Suites;

Associated support equipment, software development/integration, modification kits, capability to employ a wide variety of munitions, spares and repair parts, flight test instrumentation, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. Government and contractor technical and logistics personnel services, and other related requirements to ensure full program supportability will also be provided. The estimated cost is $3.1 billion.
This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States (U.S.) by improving the military capabilities of Greece and enhancing weapon system standardization and interoperability with U.S. forces.
The Government of Greece needs these capabilities for mutual defense, regional security, modernization, U.S. and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) interoperability. The modernization of Greece’s F-16 fleet will increase the effectiveness of its contribution and capabilities to future NATO, coalition, and anti-terrorism operations. This will also enhance Greece’s ability to patrol the nation’s extensive coastline and borders against future threats, contribute to the Global War on Terrorism, and to NATO operations. This modernization will be provided in accordance with, and subject to the limitation on use and transfer provided under the Arms Export Control Act, as amended, and as embodied in the Letter of Offer and Acceptance.
This proposed sale will not adversely affect either the military balance in the region or U.S. efforts to encourage a negotiated settlement of the Cyprus questions.

Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional U.S. Government or contractor representatives to Greece.
There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.
This notice of a potential sale is required by law; it does not mean that the sale has been concluded.
